Alert to all boaters and homeowners!

Gail Boisvert of the Mousam Lake Courtesy Boat Inspection program found the terribly invasive Asian Water Chestnut on the trailer of a boat launching on Mousam Lake. This Water Chestnut is found in Massachusetts in several places and is extremely difficult to eradicate from lakes, ponds and streams. It can survive for 12 years out of water The boat involved had been in the Charles River two years ago and the owner said he had power washed his boat and trailer and yet the Water Chestnut maintained its hold. Had it not been for the careful work of Gail, Mousam Lake would have become infested and, of course, it would not take long for the rest of the neighboring lakes to follow suit.

This is a marvelous example of how effective the Courtesy Boat Inspection can be.
