January 5, 2013: Despite the recent cold weather, Wilson Lake is still unsafe for quads, snow mobiles or other vehicles. This morning an unfortunate operator and his equipment went through the ice! While he was ok, divers had to be hired to remove the vehicle from the very frigid water.
Be safe, be careful!!!
This concerns me every year when I hear it. And those skimobilers who go skimming, the machines that end up in the lake causing tow companies and divers to assist and the fines involved, not to mention the danger to life and pollution to the lakes. Our experience with ice fishermen has been plowing areas that shouldn’t be plowed, trash left behind, damage to fences, gardens and other personal property, unauthorized parking at private homes. I understand these are sports that many enjoy – call me an old fogey, but I’d only ask ice fishermen to consider these things when accessing our private roads. Our lake is clean and we strive to keep it that way!
