Many states now require that operators of any motorized vessel complete a boating safety class and carry their certification with them when on the water. Maine does not yet have this mandate. Nevertheless, a wise boat operator will take advantage of the class, given locally for only $5, and become certified. If you take the class you will be certified for life and the certification is valid in all fifty states!
Some Wilson Lake boaters have been observed traveling at dangerous speeds and are a concern for all. Remember: Maine law requires that you must have no wake within 200 feet of shoreline unless picking up or dropping off water skiers. The red buoys indicate the 200 feet distance. Also, when out and about having fun, watch for our loons and give them plenty of distance.
The next available classes will be on July 14, and September 22, 2012 at Acton Town Hall. Call Robert Anderson for more information or to register: 207-477-8588.
